A mud agitator is used in surface drilling mud systems to suspend solids and maintain homogeneous mixture throughout the system. A mechanical agitator is driven by an explosion-proof motor, coupled to a gear box that drives the impeller shaft. The impellers ( turbines ) transform mechanical power into fluid circulation or agitation. The objective is to obtain a uniform suspension of all solids.

Drilling mud agitator is a part of drilling mud recycling system. It is designed for mixing mud and avoiding the drill cuttings to deposit at the bottom of mud tank. Its main function is to make the drilling fluids solid particles suspend.

Mud agitator is consisted of electrical motor, reducer, shaft & impeller. The driving motor & reducer box are mounted on the agitator base, while the shaft inserts into the mud tank, and the impellers which normally have three or four blades are equipped at the other end of the shaft.
