Operation and maintenance of drilling mud cleaner

Jan 05, 2015

High efficient mud cleaner is the second or third stage separation equipment of drilling liquid, which will deal with the mud after being treated by the first grade separation equipment. The barite will be recovered and cuttings which are bigger than barite will be removed. Then the barite in the underflow will flow into circulation tanks through the screens when the weighted mud passes while the particles that are bigger than mesh will be removed.

Generally, there are the following features of high efficient mud cleaner. 1/Polyurethane (PU) Material for desander and desilter cones. 2/ Desander cones can be installed between one and three 10”desander cones, each cone can process 500GPM and makes a separation between 40 and 100 microns. 3/ Desilter cones can be installed between eight and twenty 4”or 5”desilter cones, each cone can process 80 GPM, and makes a separation between 15 and 75 microns. 4/ Mechanical Deck Adjustable while operation for reliable performance 5/ Compact design with small footprint, with top feed and wire feed two option. 6/ Hook-strip shaker screen for fast screens changing with PWP and PMD screens.

Operation issues of drilling mud cleaner
1. Preparation before setting on the mud cleaner
2. Check if the piping lines have been fastened and if the sand discharge hole is unblocked.
3. Check the serving life of the screen of the shale shaker, and if it is destroyed, make sure it is changed.
4. Adjust the working pressure of the mud cleaner through valve (the pressure of the desander is between 0.2-0.35Mpa and the desilter pressure is between 0.2-0.32Mpa)
5. Before stopping centrifugal pumps, do open the mud ditch to block the sand discharge hole to prevent the mud loss and make it economic to the drilling mud cost effective operative.
