Mud gun is designed for use in a solids control system of a drilling rig. It is a tool which is mainly used for mixing drilling mud in the circulatory system and to prevent the mud from depositing. Though the structure of equipment is simple offering flexible operation and easy use, it plays an irreplaceable role in mud system. Mud gun is often installed in the mud tank, mixing tank or trip tank to agitate the mud in the corner to prevent the mud from settling down. The working principle is just like pressing the pipeline with a thumb to create bigger pressure for the water so that it can wash the tank.


The mud gun is consisted mainly by steel pipe and flange, the valves ( including high pressure or normal pressure ), and the rotary parts. First, it is always applied together with mud agitator to prevent the mud depositing so that the homogeneous mud can be transferred or treated. Mud gun can spray the mud to the tank corner which the agitator cannot reach. Secondly, the active mud can be added in the selected tank through the mud gun pipeline.
