Mud tank is widely used in the oilfield solids control system not only as the vessel of drilling mud, but also as the base of the drilling mud treatment equipments. In a complete mud recycling system for the oil well drilling rig, there will be many tanks involved. Sometimes, all these tanks look the same from outside, and are connected by pipelines; while other times, these tanks are various in demension and independent for different function.
The design of mud tank in a solids control system is very important. The surface pits that comprise the active circulating systems should be designed to contain enough usable mud to maintain mud properties and to fill the hole during a wet trip at the rig’s maximum rated depth. Usable mud is defined as the mud volume which can be pumped before suction is lost.
From the shaker tank, the drilling fluids is getting into the mud cleaning system. In general condition, we will install shale shaker on the surface of the tank, and the quantity of shale shaker depends on the treating capacity of the system. In order to remove the gas from drilling mud and enhance the efficiency of the following centrifugal pump that feeds the mud to cyclone separator as the requirement, a vacuum degasser is installed behind the shale shaker. If there is still enough space on the tank surface, the desander, desilter or mud cleaner can be installed on it. However, we always install the mud cleaner in the next tank to prevent the crowded layout on tank surface, then we get into the next tank.
KOSUN Mud Tank adopts centralized electric control; heating and heat preservation system applied for tank body in polar regions. KOSUN Mud Tanks features the advantages in drilling site: ensuring no mud loss, reducing environmental pollution, lowering labor intensity and satisfying drilling requirements timely through mud mixing. KOSUN can also design and manufacture mud tanks according to customers' specific requirements.
