Shear pump is a new model of mud processing equipment. The special impeller design can offer a high shearing efficiency. It can effectively mix and hydrate the material added in the mud in order to reduce the use of weighting material, which provides superior mud performance for drilling.

In a drilling mud recycling system, for the bentonite and other additives, we could use the centrifugal pump to shear and mixing them. But for long strings polymer, only the shearing pump could be used for its wider flow pass and smooth vanes.

Shear pump is produced according to existing centrifugal pump theory, through the improvement to develop a new, efficient centrifugal pump, and is designed for quick preparation and disposal of drilling fluids in the solids control system. The main application is in shear polymer clay, it can mix material effectively, fully hydrate material, save materials used, shorten drilling fluids preparation time, supply good drilling fluids performance to drilling process.
 

The Structure of KOSUN Shear Pump

The shear pump is composed by impeller, volute, support, packing case, transmission shaft, pulley, combination belt and electrical machine. The impeller of the shear pump is different with the water pump, the structure is more complex. It is the core part of the shear pump, with high efficiency.

The impeller is made up by 5 parts: axial compressor turbine, stock solution tank, pump impeller, pressure cabin and shear plate. The axial compressor turbine, pump impeller and stock solution tank are casted critically as an ensemble by stainless steel, the structure is very compact.

KOSUN Shear Pump reduces the cost of mixing polymers and clay while improving mud properties. Shearing the polymers eliminates fish eyes and prevents polymer chaining (long strings), which cannot pass through the shaker screens. KOSUN Shear Pump is available as a belt-driven or diesel-driven package including a hopper, mud gun and transfer line orifice plate. A complete system with skid, tanks, and piping are also available.

KOSUN Shear Pump's impeller is specially designed to have a wider flow pass and smooth vanes, with larger flow area and smooth fluid pass, making the shear pump reach the internationally advanced level in shear pump efficiency and energy saving,that is,10% higher than similar products. The shear pump has adopted a shell thicker than normal one, with rational pass and less turbulence.

KOSUN Shear Pump's impeller and shell are made of highly wear-resistant cast irons with longer service life. The shear pump shaft has high strength that can bear certain load, reduce shafts deflection and extend seals service life. Besides, the shaft is lubricated with lubricants and lubricating grease, and the oil seal is made of special structure and materials, suitable for high or low temperature and complicated environment. The front opening structure is used for convenient installation, repairing and maintenance.
