Most industrial processes need separation of liquids from each other or liquid from solids. KOSUN, as one of the world leaders in this technology, offers a complete range of separation equipment.
The working principle of decanter centrifuge is based on sedimentation or settling process. Mere settling by gravity is an extremely slow and uncontrolled process. Decanter centrifuges provide a continuous mechanical separation of liquid from solids. Instead of using the force of gravity for separation, centrifugal force is used which can be up to 4000 times greater. A wide range of different solids can be separated from one or two liquid phases continuously.
Decanter centrifuges work by generating a centrifugal force that presses the solid particles outside against a rotating bowl, while the less dense liquid phase forms a concentric inner layer. The solid particles are continuously removed by a screw conveyor, which rotates at a different speed than the bowl. The solids are compacted and discharged from the bowl. Baffles in the centrifuge casing channel the separate phases into the correct flow path. The speed of the screw conveyor can be automatically adjusted by use of a variable frequency motor to adjust the variation of the solids load.
Inlet Section - where the feed enters the decanter;
Screw Conveyor - which conveys and separates the solid phase from the fluids;
Solids Discharge Section - from where the solid "cakes" exit the unit;
Liquid Discharge Section - from where the liquid is discharged.
KOSUN Oilfield Drilling Fluids Decanter Centrifuge performs exceptionally well in separating solids from liquid in a controlled, efficient and continuous process. They are highly reliable. Capital cost, compared to the capacity of separation, is extremely attractive. Maintenance cost is low. These machines can handle a wide range of solid particles with diameters from 5 mm to a few microns. A special feature of our decanters is the ability to handle slurries with solid content from as low as 0.1% to more than 65%. The ability to accept variations in the feed more effectively is another special feature of our decanters.
